My blog usually features more extensive reviews of more extensive meals, but I think desserts (in this case ice cream) also have a spot amongst the others. Especially one that is quite unique. Ice Queen is an ice cream parlour that serves liquid nitrogen ice cream. I've never had liquid nitrogen ice cream before and was excited to try it out. All the ice cream is made to order, meaning you may have to wait a while. This is definitely worth it! It always is a plus going with more people, so you can try more things. I came with my best friend and her parents so we got 4 to share. The ice cream creations here are inspired by local/Asian desserts, and although they have some more Westernized ones, we decided to go for the Asian ones.

Chendol - Salted Gula Melaka Ice Cream with Red Beans, Pandan Jelly and Attap Seeds.jpg

Our first creation was the Chendol - Salted Gula Melaka Ice Cream with Red Beans, Pandan Jelly and Attap Seeds. I'm not really a fan of the toppings on this one, so I only really ate the ice cream. Which was deliciously creamy and the gula melaka taste really shone through. Since you can also just order a scoop of ice cream, I think I'll just go for a scoop of this.

Mango with Sticky Rice - Mango Ice Cream on a bed of Sticky Rice with Coconut Cream and Crispy Mung Beans.jpg

Mangos are probably one of my favorite fruits around, and mango with sticky rice is definitely my favorite Asian dessert. So it was a no-brainer to try this one out. This is the Mango with Sticky Rice - Mango Ice Cream on a bed of Sticky Rice with Coconut Cream and Crispy Mung Beans. The mango ice cream is nice and creamy and the taste of mango definitely shone through. It was quite interesting how there was sticky rice beneath it, and the coconut cream was definitely a nice addition. Not being a real fan of fruit ice cream, (since they're usually quite grainy), I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Admittedly I still prefer the original version of this dessert.

Red Ruby - Coconut Sorbet with Red Crunchy Water Chestnuts, Coconut Mochi and topped with Crunchy Coconut.jpg

Next we got Red Ruby - Coconut Sorbet with Red Crunchy Water Chestnuts, Coconut Mochi and topped with Crunchy Coconut. As I mentioned above I don't really enjoy fruit ice creams that much, since I prefer the creamier texture of actual ice cream compared to that of sorbets. This was probably my least favorite, but I did like the touch of the homemade coconut mochi, which were quite delicious.

Japan Hour - Matcha Ice Cream on Jelly with Red Beans and Black Sugar Mochi.jpg

Last but not least, my favorite one, Japan Hour - Matcha Ice Cream on Jelly with Red Beans and Black Sugar Mochi. I avoided the red beans, as before (although they did fit/taste better with the matcha). The matcha ice cream was creamy, rich and delicious. The flavor of matcha shone through making it just perfect. I also loved the black sugar mochi which were also homemade. Not really being a fan of matcha before, I think this dessert won me over. Definitely up for trying more green tea desserts now.
